The Walker Family is a great American Family. It started in this county with Robert Walker and Sarah Leager who came from England to Boston via the Winthrop Fleet of 1630.  We maintain this to be the first family of the Walker surname in the New World. This is a family of Patriot's, Pioneers, an Presidents, and is growing larger each year.

Every Family history site has a beginning point. That beginning starts with John Walker, b. 20 Jun 1794, Peacham, VT. He was an early convert to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. To him we owe a great deal and dedicate this site.

Other prominent early Walker names in this family line (in order of descent) include:

John Walker married Lydia Holmes, and later three other women. He fathered 14 children, of which a very large number were early members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (Mormon). This site contains information of interest to his descendants and his Ancestors.

Due to the large numbers of Descendant of the Family Organization and for privacy reasons, the information herein will concentrate on the first three generations. This makes the scope of this site a little more reasonable.

The primary source of this information is the book Ancestry and Descendants of John Walker, compiled by Rodney Wilson Walker & Noel C. Stevenson and published by the John Walker Family Organization in 1985. There have also been numerous contributions by cousins throughout the world to this project for which we are grateful.

An undertaking of this nature of necessity requires many volunteers, none of whom seek for recognition for their contributions. We nontheless gratefully acknowledge their efforts in the following areas:

The New Family Search and How It Changes Everything... well almost everythingImage

I recently became a Family History Consultant in our ward and eagerly waited for access to the New Family Search to be assigned. We are in a test area which requires advance approval and I was excited about the sneak preview.

I watched the Introduction with interest, it explained how the Church combined its core Genealogy Records, namely the Ancestral File, Pedigree Resource Files, The International Genealogical Index, Church Records, and Church Temple Records into one massive data base.
